Craft Apps Guide

Who Is Brandon Thomas, the Founder of ArtCraft?

Brandon Thomas identifies himself as the founder of ArtCraft on his public GitHub profile ↗. ArtCraft includes an AI image and video creation studio and a separate family of open-source Crafting Apps. This guide explains what the public project records establish about the developer, the software and AI-assisted development.

What Does His Public Profile Establish?

Brandon Thomas uses the GitHub name echelon and lists ArtCraft among the projects he founded. His profile also describes him as an engineer and filmmaker. That public self-description establishes his connection to ArtCraft; it does not mean he wrote every part of every Crafting App alone.

What Is ArtCraft, and What Are the Crafting Apps?

The ArtCraft studio ↗ focuses on interactive AI image and video creation. The official Crafting Apps directory ↗ lists separate editors for image work, vector illustration, PDF tasks, documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other creative jobs. The studio and these desktop-oriented apps share a project identity, but they do different work. A search for “ArtCraft creator” can refer to the person behind the project or to the AI creation software; this page is about the person and the project background.

Why did the project attract attention?

The free, open-source apps use familiar creative and office workflows. Public coverage of WordCraft, GridCraft and DeckCraft brought additional attention to the Office side of the lineup. A headline about “targeting Microsoft Office” describes the alternatives the team is building; it does not establish that every Office file or advanced feature works identically. For a practical choice, use the ArtCraft vs Microsoft Office guide.

How Were the Apps Built, and Who Contributed?

ArtCraft's repositories describe their software as open-source Rust projects. Public instructions for contributors to WordCraft ↗ and DeckCraft ↗ explicitly address both human contributors and AI coding agents. WordCraft release notes ↗ also credit people other than Brandon Thomas. These records show that the projects accommodate AI agents in their development process; they do not reveal a reliable percentage of code written by AI or a complete account of Thomas's own prompts and decisions.

AI-assisted coding is different from the AI features inside the ArtCraft studio. It also does not, by itself, tell you whether a particular app is reliable for your documents or files. Read the app's current release information and test a copy of your own work before changing a critical workflow.
