SoundCraft: Make and Check Your First Audio Mix

SoundCraft is ArtCraft's audio recording, editing and mixing app. Start with a short project using audio you own, then check the exported mix before moving an important session. Use the official app page or its GitHub releases to find current builds.

Choose a build

Open the official SoundCraft page and choose the build for your operating system. Check the version and platform on the download before installing. The official GitHub releases contain version-specific files and notes; a repository's source-code ZIP is not an app installer. If you manage several Craft Apps, Get ArtCraft Apps explains the Launcher and individual download paths.

SoundCraft's published product page describes Edit and Mix windows, multitrack audio and MIDI, track routing, automation, plugins and offline bounce. For a first test, you need only a small audio project. Do not judge the whole app by whether one unfamiliar session opens.

Try a 30-second mix

Use two short WAV clips you have permission to edit. Keep the originals outside the test project.

  1. Create a new session and import both clips. Confirm that each waveform appears and each clip plays.
  2. Put the clips on separate tracks or at different times. Adjust one track's level and listen to the start, middle and end.
  3. Save the session, close it, then reopen it. Check that the clips and your level change remain.
  4. Bounce or export a short WAV mix using a setting offered by your installed version. Open that file in another player and check its duration, left and right channels, beginning, ending and audible clipping.

A playable mix proves that particular export worked. It does not prove that another DAW can edit the SoundCraft session.

Check the handoff

What you have or needPublished informationCheck before switching
WAV, AIFF or FLAC audioThe official README lists these as import and output formats.Try a copy at the sample rate and channel layout you actually use; listen to the resulting export.
A finished mix for someone to listen toSoundCraft can bounce an audio mix.Ask for the required format, then open the exported file in the recipient's player.
An editable session from another DAW, including Pro Tools .ptxAudio import is different from opening a native DAW project. The official parity notes list .ptx read/write as a gap.Keep the original project and editor. Check official documentation and test a copy before promising project transfer.
A session with plugins, routing or automationThe product documents these features, but another setup may differ.Verify the actual plugins, media paths, routing and automation after reopening a representative project.

If a collaborator needs an editable project, ask which application and project format they will accept. A WAV file is a delivery mix, not a replacement for the source session.

If something fails

If import, playback or export fails, note your operating system, SoundCraft version, audio interface, input format, output settings and the exact visible error. Try one short copy of the file. Then check the official issues ↗ or report a reproducible problem there. Keep the original session and source audio while you investigate.
