Craft Apps Guide

Download and install PhotoCraft

If PhotoCraft is the only app you want, you do not need to install all 13 Craft Apps. Go to the official PhotoCraft release ↗ for its standalone file. If you expect to try several apps, the ArtCraft Launcher ↗ gives you one place to install and update them. Both routes are linked from PhotoCraft's product page ↗; neither is the separate ArtCraft AI Studio.

Match the file to your machine

SystemLook forAfter the download
WindowsThe .msi for your CPU, or portable.zip if you want the portable buildRun the installer, or extract the ZIP before opening the app. The source-code ZIP is not the portable build.
macOSThe offered Universal .dmgMove the app to Applications. If macOS blocks the first open, read the current release's developer-verification notes before changing security settings.
LinuxA matching .AppImage, .deb, .rpm or .flatpak bundleUse your distro and architecture to choose. The Linux package guide explains what those formats mean.

Here is a real reason to look at the repository rather than a screenshot of a download button: on 2026-10-29 GitHub showed PhotoCraft v0.17.0 as its latest release, while its official product page still named some v0.16.0 assets. That does not make the product page unofficial. It means you should read the original release tag and asset list before assuming a button has the newest file. Avoid hard-coded download mirrors and filenames in bookmarks.

Check the download, then make a throwaway image

Confirm the browser address is github.com/storytold/photocraft/releases or a file linked from getartcraft.com/apps/photocraft. Compare the release tag and asset filename. If the release supplies SHA256SUMS, match your file's hash to that file's line: Get-FileHash .\FILENAME -Algorithm SHA256 on Windows, shasum -a 256 FILENAME on macOS, or sha256sum FILENAME on Linux. A mismatch is a stop sign, not a warning to click through.

Once PhotoCraft opens, make a small canvas or use a copy of an image. Add a mark, save under a new name, close, and reopen it. That humble check tells you more about your installation and save path than a splash screen does. It does not prove that a complex layered PSD will survive a client handoff. For that, see the PhotoCraft app guide and the named PhotoCraft–GIMP test.

If the app fails to launch, note OS, CPU, release tag, exact file and error text before changing package type. Search PhotoCraft issues ↗ for that symptom; a fix in an issue is useful only when it appears in the release you installed.

Download routes and release labels checked 2026-10-29 against PhotoCraft's product page ↗ and official releases ↗. The save check above is something the reader can perform, not a test result claimed by this site.
