WordCraft DOCX Compatibility: One File Tested in Microsoft Word
Tested 27 October 2026 · WordCraft v0.11.0 · Microsoft Word for Mac 16.110.2
The short result
On 27 October 2026, we opened a two-page sample DOCX in WordCraft, changed one word, saved a new DOCX and opened that new file in Microsoft Word for Mac. Word opened it without a repair prompt. In this one sample, the edit, two-page count, Arial 10.5 pt body style, 5 × 3 table, header, footer and one anchored comment remained available. This is a small-file handoff result, not a claim that every DOCX layout or review feature works.
The files contain only synthetic text made for this test. Keep the original when you repeat the steps.
Test environment and method
| Item | What we used |
|---|---|
| Date | 27 October 2026 (Beijing time) |
| Editing app | WordCraft desktop v0.11.0, downloaded from the official release ↗; its installer matched the release's SHA256SUMS.txt |
| Receiving app | Microsoft Word for Mac 16.110.2 |
| Computer | macOS 26.6.2 (Build 25G83) |
| Original | fixture.docx, a synthetic two-page document |
| Edit | In WordCraft, Replace All changed the sole Draft in Handoff status: Draft. to Reviewed; then Save As created wordcraft-gui-edited.docx |
| Recipient step | Opened the saved file directly in Microsoft Word for Mac, without conversion or repair |
The original contains body paragraphs, bold and italic text, a 5-row by 3-column table, a deliberate page break, a single-section header and footer, and one comment attached to the second-page “Recipient check” paragraph. We compared the file structure and the visible document in the receiving app. The downloadable pair lets you repeat the recipient step or compare the files yourself.
What the receiving app showed
| Check | Result in this file |
|---|---|
| Save and open | Passed. WordCraft saved a new DOCX. Word opened it directly with no repair prompt. |
| Edited text | Passed. Word showed Handoff status: Reviewed. |
| Page count | Passed. Both original and saved file showed two pages; an independent render also produced two pages. |
| Font and emphasis | Passed. The Normal style remained Arial 10.5 pt. Word showed Arial and its localized 10.5 pt size label. The bold and italic runs remained visible. |
| Table | Passed. The five rows, three columns and cell contents remained in place. |
| Header and footer | Passed. The original single-section header and footer text remained readable. |
| Comment | Passed. Word displayed the same comment attached to the second-page paragraph; the saved DOCX retained one comment and its start/end anchors. |
“Passed” refers only to the stated sample and receiving app. It is not a score for all DOCX files.
What this test does not cover
The file has no images, footnotes, tracked changes, multiple sections with different headers, merged table cells, embedded objects or macros. Those cases are not tested, rather than passed or failed. We did not open the result in Word for Windows, Google Docs or LibreOffice. We did not compare large or complex client documents, and we did not test WordCraft's browser build.
If your handoff depends on any of those features, make a copy of your real document and test it in the exact version and operating system used by the recipient. Check page breaks, substituted fonts, tables and comments after opening it there.
Repeat this check with your own document
- Copy the original DOCX. Record the file, app versions and operating systems.
- Open the copy in WordCraft and make one known, easy-to-find edit.
- Save it under a new DOCX filename. Do not overwrite the original.
- Open the new file in the recipient's actual app. Compare the edit, page count, font, table, header and comments that matter to your document.
- If one part changes, keep the two files and note the exact version and feature before deciding whether to use WordCraft for that handoff.

These fingerprints help a reader confirm that they downloaded the same test pair; they do not verify WordCraft itself. The installer was checked against the separate hash list on its official release.
